FRPP GTA exhaust too quiet

Don't waste your money on a cut and clamp x pipe. I had one on for a year or so and really didn't notice a difference. I went to an O/R x and WOW....it's loud enough to wake the dead with my Violators on it! I've got a set of GTA's in the attic that I keep meaning to try out, but haven't got around to it yet. I hear an O/R pipe with GTA's or GTB's sounds pretty good.

I've had the GTA's on my car almost since it was new. With the rest of the exhaust stock I agree they are a little quiet, but still louder than stock. However if you go to a set of aftermarket cats they will sound pretty good. If you want to keep your factory cats and manifolds I highly recommend the GT500KR mufflers. They are almost as loud as the stingers, but with no drone. They have a great throaty sound. They are a little pricey new, but well worth it.

The GTAs with x-pipe on my old 07 v6 were louder than my current 2011 GT with GT500 takeoffs. They are fairly quiet on a stock 05-09 GT ..just adds a deeper tone. Maybe an x-pipe will wake them up. It be easier to just get louder axle backs.

I just went back to the boom tubes. All in all they give a great sound just a little loud but tolerable. I actually went from the GTA's back to the stock GT mufflers and found the GT mufflers were louder in genera then the GTA's. I know there is something between the GTA's and the boom tubes but I don't want to pay $500 to get it.

Funny you mention that. I just insulated my trans tunnel with some of this I found at a local upholstery supply house ($12 a yd)after I installed my Hurst Billet Competition Plus shifter. http://www.stockinteriors.com/HeatSound.asp?Itemid=4783 It worked very well as the trans noises and heat have been greatly reduced. I need to just get some more adhesive to use the rest to finish the trunk.
