I keep reading about how that boss intake doesn't add all that much power, just changes the torque curve. Is this true?

No it will add horsepower at the high end past 6,000rpm is where you see the horsepower gain. Other than that it's not really worth it if your not getting to that range.

my 2013 5.0 is making 412 rwhp with a steeda cai and tune. I plan on adding stainlessworks headers and high flow cat midpipe next summer. I should see a nice jump on horses with that.

Second sw headers. Also i would recommend some suspension too. You notice it more than 10 hp. Try hypermotiveperformance.com

But these cars already have relatively large, tuned exhaust manifolds. How much more of a gain could you get with aftermarket headers?

$1000 you're not going to get too far, but cold air intake, tune, gears are going to be your best bet.

You get one hell of a sound. Dyno numbers are in my sig with those mods. Tuner speculated another 10-20 hp with a larger intake. I don't have before and after numbers. You can search and finds some videos on youtube.

I have a 5-speed and not the new 6 speed but I DD 4.10 gears on the highway and still manage 27MPG with a full off-road exhaust. I don't see why people are afraid of 4.10's. If the minor difference in gas mileage is that big a deal, don't buy a v8...

It's because the transmission ratios between a 5 spd and 6 spd transmission are vastly different. 4.10s on a 5 spd are roughly the equivalent of 3.73s on a new 6 spd. Can't compare two different drivelines just on the rear end ratios. 4.10's would render 1st gear, with or without a supercharger, useless unless you're running drag slicks or radials.

4.10's and 27MPG?? That just doesn't compute for me. The only way I can get 25MPG or better is to baby the hell out it and that is not what I bought the car for. I average 17-19MPG with 3.73's in my '11 GT. At what MPH are you able to get 27MPG consistently?

imo save that 1000 and put toward a supercharger fund, tires/rims or suspension
