Hey guys,

Got the typhoon series K and N CAI for christmas. Anyways, threw it right on. Took it for a test drive, and noticed as soon as I would throw it into neutral, I would drop to 500 rpms and sit there. once I came to a stop it would go up to like 700. I feel like I have way less power than with the factory airbox. I felt around and couldnt feel any air leaks. Supposedly this CAI is no tune required. The only other mods I have are an x-pipe and axlebacks . Any help is much appreciated. I did the computer reset and it did nothing. Im parked for now and will probably but the stock AF back on. Thanks in advance

In all honesty the CAI's that require no tune are not great. You really do not see any performance increase from them they are mostly just for show. If you get the car tuned or do the tune program that AM has that would fix it right up. A nice 91 octane race run will pump out more horses and increase fuel so long as you keep the foot out of it!

Maybe you flipped the maf sensor upside down by accident when installing?

yep, at least with the 2005-2010's, and then the opening isn't facing the right way

I'm not a fan of K&N, let alone a no-tune-required CAI on these S197's. Your gains are so low that most people won't feel it in the butt dyno.

Before swapping back to the stock iar box, check the MAF as previously mentioned and, if that doesn't cure it, disconnect the battery for 30 minutes to reset the adaptive learning. Also, clean the TB since a bit more airflow could amplify the symptoms of it being dirty.

I drove around with my stand alone Airaid CAI for several months and felt only minimal performance gain, however it was at the high RPM range only. Once I uploaded my custom Brenspeed tune, I could instantly feel the power gain as soon as I stepped on the pedal!
In order to get the CAI's full potential, I highly recommend getting a tuner with custom tunes from either Brenspeed or American Muscle.
