Default Clunky Spider Gears on a 2005 GT 5 Speed

I have an 05 Mustang GT 5 Speed. I bought it with 49,000 miles on it, and I have since put about 4,000 miles on it. I am getting a pretty bad clunk in the rear end.

It appears to be coming from the spider gears. I hear the clunk when I get off the clutch during a shift and sometimes when i get on the clutch. It is at it worst when I shift in the middle of a turn. I took the back cover off and you can see the slop in the spider gears when you try to move the pinion with the e-brake set. I checked the back lash and it is within spec. There isn't any slop in the stock 2 piece drive shaft. Here is a video of the noise.

Anybody else had this problem? I was thinking of replacing the spider gears and cross pin, but American Muscle sells the whole Traction-Lok unit for $230. Any thoughts or ideas?

These cars are pretty clunky due to the two-piece drive shaft, you sure it isn't coming from the DS? Mine has clunked from day one, and I bought it with 6300 miles on it.

Check your rear end diff lube level.
Some 05s thru 07s were underfilled
at the assembly plant.
A time bomb waiting to destruct the
internals of the rear end...

After I had the back cover off, I replaced the fluid with 2.2 quarts, which is what the owners manual said. It wasn't running out of the fill hole. You think adding more fluid might quiet it up a bit?

Ive read that 9 times out of 10 its the stock drive shaft clunking, but in this case its not.

Isn't there a friction modifier that is supposed to be added when you change the dif fluid? Not related to the clunk, but something to check into.

I added 2 quarts of fluid and a .2 quart bottle of friction modifier.

It should be right level with the fill hole as per the TSB on the subject.
More is better than less in this situation.
Any excess lube will exit the vent tube over time.
