Guys, if you change the ratio to a higher gear and don't fix the speedo it put put A LOT of extra miles on your car that you didn't drive. Get it fixed. And I don't understand why ford wouldn't be able to hook up a tuner and do it for you..... 3:73 is a ratio offered by ford. If they don't (which would blow my mind) then grab a used tuner and it maybe borrow one.

I believe you'll probably need a written tune for an automatic if gears are changed as the shift patterns are set for the gears it came with.

Because 3.73's aren't an option on the auto.

How is that even remotely the same thing here?

Regardless if ford can't or not, getting a tune from either Breenspeed or AmericanMuscle will help a lot! Shift points will change and be vastly improved, you can add a lot if power even without a cai (but I'd recommend it while your getting a tune) and be able to adjust the speedo. Two birds with one stone and a lot if extra throttle response and power!

Um...Maybe because it is the same exact technology by the same company? It's not rocket science. The dealership not only has the tools to do it, but they also hire outside tuners to vehicles. So yes, it is remotely the same thing.

Next time figure it out before you go spouting off half cocked.

Just get the tuner! a custom tune is as good as gears. Getting rid of the factory throttle lag alone is worth the cost. It's not like you have a 5.0 that like to go pop with an aftermarket tune, lol!

I will say it once again so even your feeble mind will get it. 3.73's are not an option with the autos so therefor there is nothing a dealer can do. An aftermarket tune is the only option.

And technology has changed since 2001.

Well 3.31 weren't an option either in 01' either, but some how Ford figured it out, amazing! You are right, technology has changed, it's easier and easier to change things in cars like this, because of computers.

Feeble? You don't even know what the hell you are talking about. Probably never sat down with a tuner, aftermarket or from Ford, and learned what can and cannot be done with the tunes from cars.
