Real world 0-60s

Many sources end up regurgitating claims given out by the manufacturers. Many times these numbers are inflated or done under perfect conditions that we never see in the real world. I started coming across searches that are showing the 2013 and 2014 GTs doing 0-60s up to about 5.5 seconds. I don't have an accelerometer anymore, so I can't really test mine. The track read out in the cars are most inaccurate and realize they can be used to compare mods, but not when wanting an accurate time. I was under the impression I bought a sub 5 second car (4.3 claimed), so I expected to at least being hitting high 4s consistently.

Anyone have an accelerometer and actually test theirs? I have a MT and 3.73 gears, so was hoping to see something with similar options. All are welcome to post though, as llong as you have your car's options posted somehow for comparing more objectively.

Thanks!!

Only done mine once, missed 3rd and still hit 4.7s that was before mods if I remember correctly. I will try to find a road to test it further.

it'll do it in about 4.4 seconds, seeing that it'll fly through the quarter mile @ 110mph in the 12 second range.

dang, thanks guys. Tells me there are either some really bad drivers out there, or they are using the on board gauges, which vary tremendously.

mrhills0146 05-06-2014 07:53 PM

Both. On board gauges are not accurate, but you have to be a good driver indeed to knock out a sub five second 0-60 run, and we all know that anyone with a pulse can get a driver license

My 3v is quick, but man am I envious of those of you with that Coyote mill.

ha, as someone who lived through the 80s and thought 0-60 in 6.5 seconds was awesome, let me tell you these cars are way faster. Definitely 5 secs or better.

best I've seen on the street with the stock app. is 4.6. havent used it at the track. Raced last weekend saw 1.93 60fts and 12.80's at 111+. This was 1st time out. Had guys run 12.6's Stock So dont think 4.3 0-60 MPH is at all a false claim. Think with a few mods. sub 4's are very doable. Im running a 14 gt 6 spd, 3.55 gears

The thing is the car only performs as good as the driver allows. Have an inexperienced driver and you will get sub par numbers, have an average driver and you will get closer to the advertised specs, get a pro driver and you will likely hit or possibly exceed the factory numbers (conditions pending). Point is they have to release fairly accurate numbers by law. I don't remember what year the law was changed but a few years back congress passed a bill that pretty much stated manufactures had to release accurate MPG and HP numbers as a lot of the claims made in the past were incorrect and cars were either exceeding or drastically under performing to those related specs.

I don't know how anyone can hit 4.3 seconds with street tires. It'd have to stick good on the 1-2 shift and with 360-380rwhp and 3.73 gears, that doesn't seem likely.

Even using an accelerometer in an iphone or ipod touch, you'd have to make damn sure it's stationary (it can't move at all) and you really need to weigh your car for it to be accurate.

It's very difficult to accurately measure 0-60 times.

Here's a 0-60 calculator using 1/8 mile times and speed. Seems a little optimistic. I got 3.56 seconds using my fastest 1/8 mile time.

According to my SCT Liverwire tuner, which apparently can do 0-60 times, my fastest was 4.3 BUT it was with 9.5" wide wheel wrapped in warmed up NT-01's. I've not hit that time with street tires ever because they just can't hook up.
