Default MD State Inspection issue

So I am in sort of a bind here. I took my new to me 2007 GT in to get a MD state inspection done it so that I could get it properly registered in the state, however the previous owner had done all sorts of mods to the car. These mods were done at a shelby factory and I have all of the work orders.

The problem is that they had installed straight through exhausts and Maryland requires you to have a chambered exhaust to pass inspection.

So my question is what would the best route be to go about acquiring a chambered exhaust just for the inspection and then swap the current ones back on. Would I have to purchase a new exhaust just to pass the inspection or is there a better option?

I would try to find out the testing criteria on that exhaust and see if you can try to slide it through.

Some States require a car to be able to pass emissions before being sold..Have you told the Shelby shop you failed? They may be required to make it pass.

You have to have catalytic converters yes, if they require a "chambered" exhaust (never heard of that rule) you could always buy a set of OEM takeoff axlebacks for cheap and throw em on and swap out once its done... THAT inspection only happens once... then you only gotta worry about the emissions crap (Which is all OBDII port readings)

So here is the exact wording of the law / what they check on the test:

Procedures:
(1) With engine running and the vehicle on a hoist or lift, visually inspect the exhaust pipes, mufflers, resonators and tail pipes for leaks, deterioration, proper mounting, damage, and general condition. Rusted or corroded areas shall be given particular attention. Holes in the system made by the manufacturer for drainage are not cause for rejection.

Reject Vehicle If:
(1) Vehicle has no muffler.

Here is what is currently on the car.

I guess those aren't "chambered" enough for them.

Anyway I ordered a set of stock OEM Gt mufflers and will slap them on there for the inspection.

Man, if there isn't any penalty for a failed test, I would have just tried squeaking the car though as is first!

I passed my 12 with no resonators and flowmaster American thunder axlebacks through MD in 2012. I don't see why the GT500 muffler would be a problem.

Well there is no penalty for failing, but you have to eventually pass the inspection to get your permanent registration from the MVA.

Yeah I asked them about the exhaust and they said the gt500 stingers were classified as a "straight through" exhaust, therefore according to their book it cannot possibly have a chamber for the gasses to buildup in before exiting.

Oh well I'll just resell the stock mufflers after I use them to pass the inspection.
