Hey Sam-Did you happen to have any check engine lights and/or can you elaborate on the leak that you're referring to? If you're to need an answer on something immediately don't hesitate to let the tuning specialists at Bama know! They can be reached directly at 888.226.9764!

Higher shifting pressures and heat can cause the auto trans to purge fluid through the bell housing. Getting a trans catch can resolves this. My car did it as soon as I added the blower and ran it hard at the track. Just do a search for transmission catch can, you can read more about it.

Sounds like the line pressure is to high in the tune.

Eh, or just the slightly ****ty 5R55S trans in stock form. Happens. 808 is right, when it gets hot the fluid expands and it purges it. Then it runs hotter from low fluid and.......you buy a new transmission.

As the current owner of my second 5R55S trans, I've toyed with the possibility of gathering the parts to do the manual swap to a 6060 manual but...I dunno.

No lights, no leaks ever. The leak seems to be reddish in color and is coming from the transmission housing. Right behind the oil pan. Thanks for the advice

Thanks. So it looks like something I'm just going to have to live with. I'll get the catch can but if I'm losing fluids how can I add more. These trannys are sealed. Thanks again 808

Never mind. I just ordered the catch can and it recycles the fluid back into the tranny I guess. Thanks again

I did a install thread either here or on s197forum.com check it out. It'll help you with the install if your confused. You can also add a deep trans pan which comes with a dip stick. You then add fluid through that. They also sell regular sized pans with a dip stick. Performance automatic.

808, where is that purge port?

Also, what is your maintenance schedule for that trans? I've got a 3 year warranty on the one I've got but no one can seem to agree what to do to it between. I don't drive it as hard as you do since I don't track it but I have been known to do some spirited late night driving.
