Dirt Road + stang?
#11
I say go for it, I took my 13GT up a dirt road in Island Park to a cabin, I was worried, but with proper tire placement I got up and down without damage. and there was a fairly steep section, like 8% grade... maybe more but I have never measured it... doubt anyone has lol. That was on a set of worn out pirelli p zero nero tires as well.
Doing it every day on that road would not be fun, but on a fairly flat road with known divots and holes wouldn't scare me at all, if the house was everything I wanted I would buy it for sure. Also realize that my first house I bought I made sure had a spot for my projector, ended up passing up on a lot of cheaper better houses because they didn't fit the screen so I'm ok with being picky!
Either way good luck, and congratz when you finally make the purchase.

I'm not obsessive, but I can't stand dirt roads. At some point they all seem to washboard, and just when you slow down for a bad section, some guy will blow past you and leave a cloud of dust behind. Living on a dirt road would not work for me....I'd keep looking at other houses.

I can't stand dirt roads either but the house sounds perfect otherwise. I love the idea of two garages. It really depends on if you can live with a dirty car. Every time you use the road the back end is going to show it. I would probably start looking into a truck for nasty days when the road is muddy.

I lived on a 1/2 mile dirt road for 6 years with my stang. Was a pain to keep clean in the summer due to dust. I always crawled in 1st gear and the neighbors always laughed. I do need front control arms soon, I'm sure the road didn't help but I would need them soon at this point regardless. (06 with 85k)

Hey guys, thanks for all the replies.
I drove up and down the road probably 20 times before I made my decision to go for the house. I'm still in the process before closing, but I'm pretty stoked, especially about the garage.
And I agree with what a lot of you guys said on here: house > car. Plus, all I really have to do is drive slow for 1/2 mile, it's not like I will be sacrificing all that much. The mustang isn't my daily driver, my F150 is, so 85% of the time I'll be taking the truck anyways.

the only thing that would bother me about unpaved roads is if gravel is dropped on them regularly. Dust/mud can be washed off; I don't take my car on dirt roads because I don't want the gravel doing a number on the paint.
