Default Bad ECU/PCM on my 05 Stang, help?

Greetings from Mexico

Ive been having several problems with my 05 GT, since last year

It all started with problems on the A/C compressor and overall cooling system. After several visits to different technicians, the diagnostic was PCM related

After that, i started to get codes for the O2 sensors, some times 2, other times all of them

I decided to change the front sensors but didnt worked, so my mechanic recommended to go to a dealer and check my car there

15 days later, they told me i had several communication issues with the PCM and needed to replace it... for about $1600 usd for a new one, or about $1000 for an used unit (and only 1 month of warranty)

so far, ive been trying to locate an used part in my country with no success, it seems its a rare item to get a hold around here

Now, ive seen some parts in places like Ebay, but im not sure if they would fit my car. My part number, on the PCM sticker says
5r3a-12a650-abc
With the visible sticker that writes: BKT2

Do i need to find the exact codes on the used parts? or a 5R3A-12A650-ABD / BKT3 could work?
From what i read here
http://www.obdtester.com/ford-ecu-up...R3A-12A650-ABC

The BKT3 is just the updated model for the S197?

Thanks for all the help!

you need the correct part # listed by the dealer for your cars vin#, no promise that it will work based on some thing you found on the web

BKT2 is the program code for your PCM. As long as its the same year, code and transmission (auto or manual) you should be good

Its just hard to locate the exact part!

Another website like this one
http://www.fdmotorparts.com/partlist...5-1597435.html

says the 12A650-ABC was replaced with 12A650-ABD, although both with the same BKT2 program code

Also, found an used ECU on ebay, but with a program code BKT3, the seller asked for my VIN and replied:

"A BTK2 and a BTK3 computer will interchange. With any computer, just be sure to have the vehicle flashed. Failure to reflash the computer to recognize the "PATS" (passive antitheft system) will result in a "No start" condition."

What do you think guys?

You could buy one and have it flashed to the correct strategy code.

you will have to have it flashed for your as built data no matter what, but you will need to use the correct part # for the PCM as listed for your vehicles vin#. any other part number and who knows? maybe it works, maybe it doesnt. but not likely that it will

Well that makes sense, i made a search here:
http://www.fdmotorparts.com/

With my VIN
1ZVFT82H855109106

After browsing around, the search mentions:

12A650 Module - Engine Control -
3Z-12A650-ABC Replaced by: **3Z-12A650-ABD

**5ZF1G80508 (BKT2)
Automatic Transmission

So again, seems to be a running change for the later production date

Can't speak to PCMs, but carpart dot com is pretty reliable.
