2006 Sheby clone-buy or not to buy?
Hello fellow members,
I am need of opinions and advice.
I have been looking at a 2006 Mustsng GT premium with the following options.
Shelby front clip.
Shelby suspension
Shelby supercharger (claims 575 HP)
Under drive pulleys
Shelby wheels
Shelby badges
TCI shifter (auto)
It has 44,000 original miles and Carfax looks good.
I have the chance to grab this at $18,000.
I think I know the answer, but was looking for your advice an opinions on if it is with the $$$.
Thank you in advance,
Peter

It's difficult to put a value on a bespoke car and it'll be worth what you're willing to pay for it, but keep in mind that it's still a GT despite the Shelby tribute treatment and it won't come close to the value of a real GT500.

Private seller or dealership ?
If dealership, what do they offer for a warranty ? No warranty, walk away.
Is all the mod documentation available ? No or incomplete paperwork, walk away.
Is the car tuned ? Who's tune ? Hand held ? ( SCT, Bama, etc. ) Tuned but no hand held, walk away.
.........................................Good luck with your decision !!

It does look immaculate inside and out. The owner's spent a lot of money on the car but it's still only going to be worth something in between the value of a 2006 GT and a 2007 GT500 of similar mileage and condition.

that is a great looking car. not sure on what route your going (finance/pay cash) but there isn't a bank out there that would loan you 18 grand against a 06 GT. I would also ask how long the supercharger has been on the car and if the rotating assembly has been upgraded to forged internals. the reason for all the Shelby stuff could be a result of an accident or 2 and instead of going with stock parts they went with Shelby bumpers and badging and went on from there. as long as it still is a clean title I wouldn't worry to much about it but ask to see receipts for all the work done. an owner/builder of a car that clean should have them in a binder. if you were to get a stock gt and put all those parts on it, it would cost you a bit more, lots more if you factor in labor and paint and all that. in the end if its what you've got your eyes set on then go for it. good luck
