I got my last battery at Costco - under $100 and a 3 year warranty. I find they only last between 5-7 years anyway so I just replace it before they give problems so I don't get caught listening to the radio and killing the battery. Squeezing another year out of it might work, but not worth the PITA if it happens to die. Also I find if you kill the battery a few times, it's time is limited.

Ur car sat for 2 months, you let it idle for 10 minutes and then switch it off to find out it is still dead. You are not going to revive the battery from flat dead in ten minutes using the alternator at idle. maybe 20-30min at 1500-300 rpm while driving around but not 10 minutes at 700 rpm. get a new battery and use a tender next time or disconnect it all together.

I didn't expect it to recharge it, but was surprised that it didn't seem to gain any. I got it all charged up and running good now.

Now if MGW will get my new race shifter on the way so I can throw my hurst away I would be another step closer to being a happy man!!!!

If a lead acid battery is stored flat for long enough or is drained sufficiently, the cells start to degrade to the point where they won't hold a load even if voltage is ok.

My guess is you have at least one dead cell. Throw it on a good trickle charge for 6 hours then take it to an auto parts store before putting back in your car. If you keep trying to start your car with a bad battery you can create problems.

Yeah - once the battery starts to go - it is a losing battle to make it good again. Spend the $100 and get a new battery.
