Default Are there any REAL differences between CAI's? What

brand names are best? I couldn't find anything of substance on youtube as far as a side by side dyno comparison.

Some are better than others but the best ones for the 05-10 GT are the JLT Series 3 and the C&L Racer. Both have large diameter intake tubes with filters that can inhale a lot of air (1000+cfm), and are designed for engines making 350+rwhp. This leaves you plenty of room to grow if you do this as your first mod.
Avoid "no tune" intakes as those are a complete waste of money.

The same two brands are also the best for the 11-14 GT.

I run a Whipple CAI on my 11, a FRPP / JDM on my 14.
Both of these have aluminum MAF housings.
More than one thread on the SVTP site about quality issues with JLT products.
As with other things in life, you get what you pay for.

That might be true about some of the earlier JLT prototypes but the current generation are very well made.

Prototypes are not generally sold to the public.
Most co.'s wait till the product is fully developed & tested before going to market.
The type of quality problems noted in the SVTP threads are production issues, which JLT has no control over...( as JLT doesn't mfg. CAI's )
.
I can find JLT products on my tuners site.......but not on his car !!

I'm running a C&L intake with a Diablo "Regular" tune on an '05 GT. I have nothing to compare it to, but it certainly impresses me! Makes me think that my base motor is just a "little better" than the normal, or something.

Here's the thing. I got it used from a fellow that ran it on an '06 GT until he went over to Camaro. My/his C&L intake came with a sleeve that you slid into the intake, reckon it takes the air flow down a tad. On his car, said no sleeve, and ran like a scalded dog. ON my car, it was not happy without the sleeve, but, with the sleeve, damned impressive!

Way back when, I had a roommate with a VERY rapid '69 396 Camaro SS. He blew up something or other on engine while Chevy still had a 50k warranty. He got a call from the dealer, they wondered where he got a "Factory Experimental" engine. He said his grandmother had got it for him off the showroom floor. They fixed it and returned it. Some people have all the luck!
