Default Spark plug change on 2006 GT w/only 14K miles??

Bought a 2006 GT a few months ago, with only 14,000 miles on it.
Previous owner said it sat in his garage most of the time, sometimes for months at a time. I just replaced the fuel pump ($700) because of hard starting issues, and it's better, but it will still hesitate to start the first time on occasion.
Could the plugs need replacing on a 10 year old car, even though it has so few miles on it? If so, which brand do you recommend?
Only mods are Steeda underdrive pulleys, Air Raid CAI, and 3:73 gears.
It's an automatic.
My Ford mechanic says ethanol gas is rough on cars that sit a lot...
Thanks!

Ethanol is brutal when cars sit. I put Stabil ethanol treatment in every tank of my car (also a 2006, with 20k on it). I have not had any fuel related issues to date.

I would change the plugs just to get the two piece stockers out. Champion 7989 is the plug you want. I changed mine sometime around 12-13k miles and haven't had any issues with the Champions.

+2 on the champions (second set in there now after 60K on the first set) Fuel filter needs replacing, how many tanks of gas have you been through since you bought it?

hows the battery? my 05' recently started having difficulty turning over. checked the voltage and it was 10.5 to 11.0 sitting, car not running. battery was made in late 12. took it to oreallys just to test and came back bad. got a brand new Optima red top off CL for 100, still wrapped in plastic, threw that in and starts like a champ every time. as far as the plugs go, I would suggest, and this is just me, that you use the OEM motorcraft plugs with nickel anti-seize on the snouts only. my car didn't like the E3 or HT1 plugs, went to limp mode. I didn't try the champions so they may work for you. my car was built 11/04 as well. not sure if that makes any difference. good luck

I agree, get those 2 piece Motorcrap plugs OUT and get a set of Champions. With only 14K miles on the clock, the old plugs should come out without too much drama. I would still follow the procedure. Good luck!

^ Yes, agreed. Still follow the procedure. I did mine somewhere around 10-12k and they were noisy when coming out. It doesn't take long for the carbon to build up.
