Default tire size...

hey guys, putting some wheels on my 06 gt this summer. wondering what size everyone is putting on 18x9's and 18x10's. they say to run 255/45r18 on front and 275/40r18 on rear. just wondering how wide you can fit on the back. also i will be dropping it about 1.5" thanks

255/45R18 has a 4.5" Sidewall, 27.03" tall.
275/40R18 has a 4.3" Sidewall, 26.66" tall.

285/40R18 has a 4.48" Sidewall, 26.97" tall. Means this would be a better rear tire decision IMO for aesthetics. Honestly those are the common sizes, so you'll have plenty of options. Going wider and you'll shrink your options and increase your costs.

Hi all,
New here. Been reading this forrum for along time now. I own 3 Mustangs, 1966, 1978 *cough*, and a 2009.
I've been researching for months now on a new set of wheels and tires. Can't really find a combo that I like. Instead of starting a new thread, I'll add to this one.
My 2009 GT has a maximum Motorsports setup. Lowered 1.9" I'm looking at running 19x10 all around with 283/35's. Also considered running 19x11's in the rear with 305/35's. Has anyone else run either of these setups? I'm worried about rub and not having enough wheel to fill the hole. I do autocross so having a large enough contact patch is important to me.

Thanks

I'm running 285/35R19 all around. No rubbing anywhere. Car handles much better with less understeer than staggered setup.

Default Awesome

Are either of you Stangs lowered any. I'm more concerned about mine being lowered almost 2 inches.

The SVE S350 was on my list and is were I saw these tire sizes. I think I'm going with Apex EC-7 from Steeda but can't decide on which color. Only offer in satin black and anthracite. I'm not real big on satin colors and I'm not real sure if anthracite will go very well on a blue car with white lower door stripe.

Thanks

p.s. Car looks great fourdegrees11

Thanks! It's lowered an inch right now. I plan on putting whiteline springs on it within a few months

Those are the same wheels I have but I opted to go with a square setup so I could rotate the tires and to minimize understeer
