Last night it was not racing weather. HOT & So muggy it felt like it was raining. I installed the C&L Racer CAI in the pits and after figuring out the first tune was not working, a quick load of a diffrent tune gave me a best of 13.748 @ 102.99 with a 2.14 60' on the stock 18's

The night before fully stock I had a best of (Really on had 1 good run, the other runs were plagued. Forgetting to turn of the Traction control, missed the shift, spun thru first, etc) 14.2 @ 100mph with a 2.3 60' but the weather was better. It was still pretty hot but no where near as humid.

I'm hoping when I get back from MD, that Fl will still have the cold front that is moving in this week. I want to see if I can get deeper into the 13's with the car the way it is.
On the dyno today she layed down 284.45 HP and 302.32 tq to the wheels. Was not good weather for the runs. The run conditions logged the temps on the two runs at 99.94 and 100.64.

Overall I'm happy. the 284.45 with a 17% drivetrain loss means I'm putting out around 344 at the crank.

i went to byron dragway today.. weather was kinda cold.. my tires are pretty bald and because of weather, i took easy ot the tree so my 60's are not that good. i was like a chicken at tree, i couldnt laucnh my car the way i wanted too.. i prefered to bog the car instead of spinning cuz bogging gives me better 60'. so, i ran 4 times today and i didnt spin of the line at all except one run. i went to track to get 13.5s but i am back with very dissapointing 13.7[]

New guy here - do not yet own one of these. I am thinking of buying an automatic though, so my wife will have an easier time driving it, and for general ease of driving in traffic. Are the autos much slower?

F-body never been to track.. but they are high 13 - low 14 sec. cars!

fordly, the automatics aren't any slower. You would have to shift perfectly to be maybe 2 tenths faster than the auto. They really improved on these automatic transmissions.

That's what I would have thought. Back in the late 60's through the 70's, the autos were just as strong, but the engines were large displacement and had more torque. With smaller (4 and 6 cylinder) engines, autos are pretty much always slower. Since it seems that the large majority of the modern V8s are purchaced with manuals if available, since so much has changed with transmissions - both manual and automatic - over that past 3 decades, and since V8 engine displacements are generally smaller than way back when, I did not know if the autos were still in the running (no punn intended).

The car I drove on the interstate was an auto and I was quite satisfied with it's power and shifting. Personnaly I enjoy a stick, but not as a daily driver in traffic; ans since my wife may be driving the car occosionally, although she knows how to drive a manual, she's very rusty at it.
