Why such big fronts?

2014 GT Track Pack. This is my first manual transmission car. I picked up the Mustang about 3 weeks ago now, and I've since done about 10 passes at LVMS. My best time was 13.660 @ 105.41. It was 93 degrees out when I took that pass.

I'm looking to improve my 60ft time of 2.228. I launched at 3500rpm, but I get nervous and release the clutch too fast. I know I need to slip the clutch more. Also all 4 tires were at 35psi. Any tips on getting faster 60's and ET's?

The increased rollout on 28" ET fronts in theory should reduce my 60' and overall ET. With my low power car, I'm looking for any advantage I can get.

It looks a little better with the 15" welds on the back (rear tires are 26" ET street bias ply):

What's a good ET for a 2010 GT w/ track-pack. Recently bought one used and going out to Gainesville's track for the first, just interested in what I should be aiming for or expect.

I went to MIR 29AUG14 for Midnight Madness...

front struts set to full loose
rear shocks set to +3 clicks from full loose
3560 lbs w/driver
DA started near 1100 ft and worked down to 400 ft later in the evening (per drag times DA calculator)

1st pass rear tires set to 14psi, 6k rpm launch
2nd pass rear tires set to 14psi, launched off the limiter @ 6.5k
3rd pass rear tires set to 16.5psi, launched off the limiter @ 6.5k
all remaining passes rear tires set to 15psi, launched off the limiter @ 6.5k

best run of the night was 12.491 with a 1.642 60' (new best 60'). MPH was down all night, possibly because I was running less pressure in the rear tires(?) Mounted my gopro to the panhard bar to watch the tire at launch:
here are outside vids to go along with the above undercar vid:

fullspeed

slow motion
