Default Nitto 555 G2 tire update

Well, it’s been several weeks since I began riding on these Nitto 555 G2 tires. As I said earlier, at first I was skeptical that they would be as good as the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires they replaced. I will say, these tires are great. They handle extremely well, on wet and dry roads. I am also very pleased at how quiet they are, noticeably quieter than the Michelins. I have had a couple of times that I had to make a sudden stop, no problems at all.
I really look forward to driving on nice curvy roads because the car feels like it’s on rails with these tires.
I might also add, these tires really look good too.
I have talked these Nittos up to several other Mustang drivers. A couple of them said they will seriously consider them when they buy again.

I've had a set for a couple of months. Very nice for everyday driving. Straight line acceleration on the street, I don't have to feather as much in 1st, and 2nd I'm pretty much WOT. I'm running 285's on all 4 corners so I am noticing the car wants follow the road a bit.

Got two track days on them. Once you get some heat in them they stick very well. Once I got to push them a bit, they stuck very well during correction throttle in the corners. Not a lot of squalling. Great braking performance, digging hard into the brakes still wasn't getting the ABS firing off.

As far as noise, my car is noisy enough that they would have to be fairly loud for me to notice them over everything else.

Hi, what rims are you using to run the 285's? And do they rub or protrude from the fenders in the front? I've been looking at running a symmetrical setup on my car with either 285's or 295's but I don't know the correct offset to make them fit properly. I don't have coilovers. I'm running Steeda sport springs and Koni STR.T shocks and struts.

I'm running SVE drifts 18x10". I rub on full lock, so I'm going to have to pick up some rack stops , but I have the V6 steering rack, which I hear has a bit more travel than the GT. Most of the GT's are running this setup with no rub. No protrusion from the fenders. I'm lowered on SVE springs around 1.5" 1.4" front to back. Koni yellow struts , strange shocks. Currently -1* camber.

Well, I'm ending the second summer on my Nitto 555 G2 tires. The first year, these tires were very good. At this point, end of second summer, I am loosing traction, on both dry and wet pavement. Puzzled because the tread looks fine.
I'll probably run them for one more summer but after that I'll be going back to the tried and true Michelins.

I got one solid year of DD and occasional track events and mine have heat cycled out. Straight line acceleration and braking were still decent but lateral grip is not existent. They've got most of the tread left. I replaced mine the beginning of this year with Continental ExtremeContact Sports.
