Default Drag racing / burnout

I'm new here so bare with me . I plan to race my 06 GT this year. What kind of brake do I need to hold the car in position while doing a burnout ?

Its called a line lock, but I don't think they have them for the 05-06 Mustangs yet.

Turn off the TCS, roll into the bleach box and floor it. Keep it going straight and hold on!

As far as a line lock, they are pretty much universal as long as you know where to install it into the brake plumbing. Has to go after the anti-lock system.

i hear 05 guys are having trouble getting line locks to work correctly something about the abs. Just hold the brake pedal enough to keep the car from moving as you floor it

If you are using street tires you don't need to do a very long burnout.

Why do you feel you need to upgrade brakes to do a burnout?

Those really long smoky burnouts some guys do does nothing
but melt away tread and thrash your expensive tires.

Pull into the burnout box, bring up the revs a bit, let clutch out.
You'll burn out enough to heat the tires up just fine and not
sit there wasting away your tires.

Also prolonged burnouts in many cases HURTS your 1/4 time (especially
in turbocharged cars).
Why?
Heat....it's the enemy of power. Sitting there doing long expensive burnouts heats
up your engine in a big way. That's robbing you of power right before your about
to run down the track.
I also laugh inside when I watch guys with turbo/super charged cars doing long
burnouts. The heat soak from their intercoolers and turbo/superchargers is
a MAJOR source of slower times.

Just heat up the tires by spinning for a couple seconds, then get to the staging
lights.

Anyone besides me find something strange about someone making the statement "I plan to race" and "what kind of brake do I need to hold the car in place to do burnouts" in the same post??

I would almost hope that if he planned on racing he would at least have a bit of racing knowledge. At least enough to know what line locks were. But then again, that is just me. Chances are I will never line up beside him so I don't have to worry about it.

Hey Hawgman, with your 304 rwhp, 318 rwtq and my 304 rwhp and 330 rwtq, things would be quite interesting. That would amount to all driver!
