Go make them a reasonable offer then leave. If they are willing to budge, they will call you. My dealer was only getting two so they weren't willing to budge much. Grody has gotten many more so the gravy train may be running out.

Being what it is and being the first year its out the dealers and raping customers. 2017 models should go without the insane markups b/c they won't be quite as collectable.

With the GT40 Ford is requiring that customers actually drive it and show it off. There are customers who will buy a car like a GT350 and just park it in their garage and never drive it as an investment. Wait 10 years and sell the car to another ***** bag who won't drive it either.

I'll wait until 2017 or 2018 to go after one. If there is any markup beyond MSRP I'll just keep shopping. At 90K might as well just suck it up and buy a GTR.

so 70k+ for the GT350 and 90k+ for the GT350R.

In NJ?

All the more reason for Ford to dump the current selling model in favor of a direct buy model.

Mark these words...its coming. And the dealerships are gonna crap their pants when it does.

$20K to $40K markup is disgusting. Even a person who could afford that would tell them to shove it.

I really wish the manufacturers would adopt a direct sales channel. That would make things so much better for everybody except the dealers.

for a $20K markup you can shop dealers and afford a 1st class ticket plus a really nice vacation road trip bringing the car home. Hookers, coke, the whole thing. Talk about memories

1. They devalue your limited production Vehicle when they do this to you. Which immediately makes the car almost forgettable the second you drive it off the lot, because now you just overpaid for a car that Ford feels should retail for 20k less than what you agreed to pay the F'ing greedy dealership.

2. They alienate the FORD target audience by pricing the car far beyond what the FoMoCo mantra is for "Fast, Fun and Affordable". And by now placing it's selling price in a pocket where there are now other manufacturer cars that are better in so many other ways.

Ford can't just "dump" the dealers, laws would need to be changed in pretty much every state in the nation. It's the reason the automakers have given tacit support to bills barring Tesla from selling direct. It ain't because they're against direct sales (don't you think they'd love to cut out that middleman?) it's because they're stuck with dealers and so Tesla should be too. Or, change the laws so nobody is required to sell through dealer franchises.

Got this yesterday:
.
" Looking for a GT350 @ or below MSRP "

Hi Don,
I wish you the best of luck. We have taken a number of orders and reduced our pricing from $20,000 over MSRP to $10,000 over MSRP.

If you are interested we have one in stock on our showroom floor and our allotment has about 1 more car besides the ones people have already claimed with minimum deposits of $2500.

Please let me know.

Kindest regards,

Those Laws are very antiquated and were instituted initially as a protection against the Manufacturers from loading the dealerships with a surplus of inventory and a major bill over their heads during hard financial times.

But with Teslas build to order setup and the way FORD and GM experimented with a direct to buyer model in the Used car segment in the early 2000's. Its already a proven formula that cuts the surplus inventory to just what the public will absorb and cuts the middleman out of the process by making all the showrooms and selling floors Manufacturer owned. Essentially cutting the franchises out of the picture or buying them back into the Ford Umbrella.

Then when an MSRP comes out for current model year vehicles you really do know what the absolute lowest selling price is inclusive of any manufacturer to direct buyer incentives.

And for previous model year cars the prices fall in scale with how far out of current it is.

It's a formula that works for today's tech empowered world.

no it wasn't, since those laws didn't protect dealers from Joe Eberhardt at DaimlerChrysler from overproducing Rams, Dakotas, and Durangos and forcing dealers at gunpoint to accept them.

these laws got passed because in many smaller cities and towns, the people who owned car dealerships were among the wealthiest. and they could buy influence from their state legislators.

all of the domestic automakers offer a build-to-order program, but it still has to go through a dealer.
