Manual vs Auto Crankshaft
I been reading peoples statements about Mach 1 manual transmission has forged crankshaft and the Mach 1 automatic transmission has a cast crankshaft!
I have done some digging around from dealerships to ford motors inquiring about this and from what I come up with is entirely not true. Both manual and automactic vehicles comes with forged crankshafts. The differences between the redline is programmed into the ecm ( the computer) which manual are higher than automatic. It's not logical and cost effective to put two different crankshafts into the same vehicle rather than programming the ecm with two different profiles.

I bought a used Mach 1 automatic motor from MPS Auto Salvage and it came with the 8 bolt forged crank. I called to inquire about this and the dude said that 6 bolt auto vs 8 bolt manual wasn't written in stone. He said that Ford being Ford they were known to dip into the left over Cobra automatic 8 bolt crank piles and use them in the Mach motors.
