How fast do you go on the highway, seriously? I don't think you will run out of top end. Mach1 4R70W ratios as follows
2.84
1.55
1.00
0.70 (OD)
Manual
.62 ratio, 80mph, at X.XX:1 rear gear ratio
3.55 = 2304 rpm
3.73 = 2421 rpm
4.10 = 2661 rpm
4.30 = 2791 rpm
4.56 = 2960 rpm
top speed w/ 3.55s, 5th gear @ 6798 rpm = 236 mph

top speed w/ 3.73, @ 5775 rpm = 169 mph
top speed w/ 4.10, @ 5784 rpm = 154 mph
top speed w/ 4.30, @ 5791 rpm = 147 mph

RE: Gears for a Mach 1
The state is building a new section to HWY 74 near here so I have had miles of pavement to play on for a year now. I had the chance to top out my Mach when I had 3.55 gears and after installation of the 4.10s currently in the car. Even got some Video of it.The only difference in top end is what gear I'm in at certain speeds. Before I could run 145mph in 4th, and now I am well into 5th. If you're worried about top speed, don't. That was one of my concerns too, but I can assure you that with 4.10s you will have zero problems pegging the speedo at 155mph. I don't think 4.30s would be much different. I stayedaway from 4.30s simply because Ispend alot of time onI-95 and didn't want those kinda traction problems when launching, but that being said, 4.30s are a great gear for the Mach and many people are satisfied with them. I did lose top end with my 2001 GT with 3.73s, but I think it was simply a lack of HP due to the 2v over 135mph. As far as gas mileage, go back to the Mach 1 page and scroll down to where I posted about MPGS on 4.10s. I got that reading last week and was shocked. 24.xx MPG. These guys info above is dead on, my RPM jumped exactly 300 RPM going from 3.55s to 4.10s at 70mph.

I was really looking for this info too, thanks guys for posting. I was planning on modding my mach once I get it as well, and gears was the 1st thing I was thinking of. 4.10's it is

Do you drive your car more at the track or on the street? 4.30s and 150 shot will make that car FLY.

RE: Gears for a Mach 1
I have been using 4.10's for the past four years in my '03 mach 1 and would not go any less....4.30's would be fine as well even for highway use. FYI in real-world driving my rpm are at 3000 at 90 mph in fifth.

Even though I hear these cars love the 4:30's, I still don't see myself going that steep. Maybe because I'm used to having a 2v where they don't like anything higher than a 3:73...
