Default 2003 Mach 1

hello....my sixxer was just totaled and i am looking for a gt or a mach1.....i found a 2003 Mach 1 in DSG (my favorite color btw).....with 107K miles on the car but the motor was recently rebuilt. It was bored .20 over and has manley forged pistons....1500 miles on the motor......it also has a 31 spline carrier with 31 spline axles, 4.10s, magnaflows, o/r pro chamber, mgw short throw, H&R SS Springs, 10.5 Mach wheels in the rear with Nitto 315/35 555Drs, PHP Intake Spacer, Predator tune, and a 100 shot of n2o

before i say how much it is i was wondering how much you guys would give for it.......The body is in perfect shape btw

I'd find out first why the motor was rebuilt, if it was for any serious problem or anything like that.

And it would have to be one clean car for me to even pay 10k for it. I'm not all about buying heavily modified cars, especially with internal work. Who knows what the rest of that poor drivetrain has been through.

But if it's what you were going to do anyway and it really seems like a good deal, go for it.

If you are looking for a modified project car then go for it. I wouldn't spend the cash if you just want to get a Mach one and modify it yourself. Most likely it has been beaten on it's whole life.

I'd have to agree with JMAC and the rest of the guys on this one. A.) You don't know what's been done to/in the car before you had it, and B.) IF I were to think about taking on a purchase like that I would definitely do my homework on the work that was done to the car because, and this goes along with the first point, you don't know how well the mods were done, what was done to them, how the car was driven, etc, etc.. If that's really what you've got your mind set on, we're not your pappy, but I certainly wouldn't pay any more than maybe 7-9k for a car with a re-built motor.

Get receipts for all the work done - ALL OF IT. Go talk to the people that did the work. Find out if they have references. Call the references. If at any step of the way, you get a "Well, I don't know" or a "Well, you'll just have to trust me" or ANYTHING of that nature, walk because even if you pay $7,500 or something loco like that, you don't want to buy trouble - it's just not worth it.

No doubt that this car has led a hard life - most Machs do I'd find out if anything has been done to the rest of the drivetrain - tranny and clutch.

Now, let's say that you walk the line here and don't get all doe-eyed over this car and get Mach fever. Keep your head level and everything checks out - receipts for EVERY little detail, references check out, etc etc. I'd go $12K

Don't do it. I've been down a similiar road with a Z28 and it turned out to be a huge headache and money pit. That Mach has too many mods, too many miles, and too little info. New motor as well..... My advice is to find yourself another Mach 1. I'd buy it for $6k if I had $6k burning a hole in my pocket because I guarentee you'll end up with another $4k or morein it just trying to get it right. If it's already blown an engine, it's probably hurting for a tranny and God knows what else. On the flip side, you may get lucky.
