n00b just bought a mach 1 and want to mod it!
hey guys i just bought a 2004 torch red mach 1 tuesday and im looking to do some little things here and there to it. i was just wondering if you had any suggestions about lowering springs, shifters, and anything that may add a bit of power with out breaking the bank. the car currently has a magnaflow exhuast with catted h-pipe and a hurst shifter that im not so thrilled with. this is all a learning experience for me so i hope i dont make myself look like too much of a fool. i have been toying with hondas/acuras/mazdas for about 9 years and have had some low 12 second 4 banger cars. now im ready for torque! this car is already a blast but i do want it to be more peppy. anyhow hopefully i can get some first hand knowlege from you guys...untill then im back to searching!

Well first what is your ultimate goal, turbos, nitrous, supercharger, N/A?? Get that decided first and if you want a car over 450 rwhp then i say get a forged motor FIRST. It sucks trying to forge your motor with LT, because its a pain to work backwards. Plus if you want FI going 4:10's with 600RWHP is overkill. You will be spinning through gears like nothing. After you tell us your goals then we can further help you.

i would like to eventually toss a supercharger on maybe get 400-450whp or so as for now im happy just toying with it and making it a quick n/a car. it would be a long while before i could go f/i... i just got out of a pretty expensive build with my last car so i wanna relax in 12-13 sec 1/4 mile land. i already have exhuast and a catted h-pipe. got any advice as to what might put me into the 12's consistently besides the good driver mod?

Usually Mach 1 with some to little bolt ons get into the high 12's. Gears like others say. 4:10's and some stickyer tires, and if you want consistancy do some suspension work and that will do the trick to put you in the 12's.

that sounds pretty awesome..i may look into it..it def took alot more to get me to 12's in my hondas!!

so uh...auto/manual....the stickies up at the top should dial you into what your looking for to start out.
the bets mods sticky has all the "cheaper mods" to be done to gain power. FYI my next car will be an auto just for sake of consistency at the track. the mach's have a bad *** auto if its tune and setup right. i feel 100% confident to say if you had a shift kit, sticky tires, and a stall would put you in the 12's and then start adding power i don't see a reason why you couldn't be low 12's quick, then throw a set of 31 spline axles and carrier from moser with some 4.10 and a 50-100 shot and your banging 11's all day
BUT FWIW i can give you a recipe for 450rwhp NA with these cars....BUT it'll cost more than the mach 1 itself
