Default Clutch.

I finally got a rebuilt trans for the mach and figured i might as well put a clutch in it while i was at it. Whats a good one that won't break the bank, considering i already did that with the trans. Something with a good pedal feel, and will handle 450 hp. Thanks.

I'm running a SPEC Stage 2+ w/low pedal option. It's a little more expensive than their standard Stage 2 setup, but the light pedal feel is appreciated, especially in stop-n-go traffic situations. There is no noise or chatter from either the clutch or the TOB. It would have no problems handling 450+hp, and up to 600lb. ft. of torque.

In the market for one as well. Clutch torque ratings....SPEC's site claims 510 and american muscle claims 420 for the stage 1. Stage 2 being 599 and 530. Pretty sure I'm looking at the same clutches. It's safe to assume SPEC's site would be the accurate one. That being said, I think the stage 1 would be sufficient for n/a Machs with the stage 2 (and higher) for boosted ones. I don't see the low pedal requirement option on a.m. site...do retailers sell it separately?

I can tell you from personal experience, DON'T GET A STAGE 1! A couple of years ago, I bought one and it sucked from day one. Smelled like it was burning up all the time, although there was little or no slippage. I was so concerned about it, I called up Spec, and talked to a tech who proceeded to tell me it was "normal" for the 500 mile break in period. Problem is, it continued long afterward! I've had no issues with the Stage 2 or 2+ models. If I was going to get a "light duty" clutch, I think I would stick with the OEM Ford units.

Much much appreciated. I'll get the stage 2 then as I definately won't need the 2+. Where did you buy yours from and did they also have the low pedal option or did you have to go through Spec to get that? Thx for all your help and I'm sure it's helping OP as well!

No problem! I try to call 'em like I see 'em. If I have issues with a product, I'll let people know about it so they don't go through the same aggravation that I went through. Likewise, if a product works good, I'll let you know that too.

I had my clutch installed by the shop that did the major buildup on my car at the end of last year. They have done several Stage 2+ w/low pedal option installs that I know of, so they obviously can get their hands on them easily.

I don't know if their website works or not, so it might be better to call them and ask for Chris Rose, he can order the clutch and have it shipped to you.

Right on. I always try to do the same. We gotta stick together and save eachother time and money. Dude's got a nice site. I got "no items found" when looking under the Spec brand, but we get a 6% discount from a.m. so I think I'll go through them and just get the low pedal option from spec if they don't have it. Thanks again and helluva nice ride...again.

I just put a Centerforce in my Mach about 2 months ago and absolutely love it.
