Default Thinking about coming back to muscle.

Hey guys.

A few years ago i had a 99 Gt with basic bolt ons and loved it. I sold it and now have a 91 300zx Twin-Turbo, but i am missing the muscle. The 300zx has big turbos and everything but ya just cant beat that american muscle sound. Anyways there is a dealer local to me that has a 03 grey mach 1 but it has 133k on the odo. i wanted to know how well are these cars built? Is this usually when one would have to be worried about the engine going out soon? Im sure the previous maint. would be taken into consideration but for the most part i just want to know if this would be a good buy. The mach is going for $8999 by the way.

Thanks.

That IS a lot of miles! But if it was well taken care of and maintained, I can't think of any reasons it couldn't go two or three times that. For 9 grand, I'll take two of them!

theres a couple of 50,000 mile mach 1's around here for 11,000-12,000. id rather spend a little more and cut the miles down by more than half.

Yeh i hear ya on that. Thanks bro. Its just that i live in California and everything here is more expensive. I did check autotrader and found some pretty nice ones for around 14k or so. But like you said better to pay a little more than to need to pay for a rebuild later.

Thanks man.

Yeh its very tempting, its so clean, but maybe i'll take jrheralds advice. I may just go ahead and call my mustang guy and see how much a rebuild is, and weigh my options depending on how much they quote me.

Thanks alot.

I'm the other way, I'm cheap and I would rather have the higher miles and the cheaper price.
That's just me though.

i mean if you have plans to put a built short block and throw some boost at it any time soon, then the miles dont matter. but if your just wanting a dd mustang i would go out of state to buy one with lower miles.

While on the subject of boost, Just out of curiosity what are the limits of the mach's engine internals? I would really be interested in putting a procharger on this baby

Procharger P1SC, running 8-9lbs. of boost, about 450-465rwhp, is totally doable on a stock block Mach 1. Anything over that, and your motor is living on borrowed time!
