I've got a 2004 Mach 1 and shifting lately into any gear is rough (I've got to double clutch to shift smoothly or even get into gear). It's a 5 year old clutch so I'm guessing it's seen its fair share of hard driving (I'm the second owner of the car). I'm also periodically smelling a burnt type of odor when shifting so yeah, I'm pretty sure it's time for a new clutch.
I'm a bit confused as I've heard people say "Oh a new clutch is gonna run you $700-$800" but I just looked up performance clutch kits online and some were only at most $300. Is it really that much labor? Any suggestions on a performance clutch?
Thanks a lot in advance for the advice!
