Default Brand spanking new mach 1 owner.

Been reading the forum for awhile and finally took the plunge and bought a black 2003 5speed mach 1 with 39,000 miles.

A little history on me, I've been driving a head/cam 1995 Chevy Impala SS for the past 8 years and I was ready for a change.

Been looking for a Mach 1 for a couple months and finally found a mint condition bone stock one. I just got home from buying it and so far the car is very impressive. I love it!!

Ive got alot to learn and for now I will be keeping it stock and start modding in maybe a year or so.

Good patience on you I haven't had my car for barely 2 months and I'm already going to be buying a Cobra intake for it, but i'm getting a really good price on it! Congrads on your new purchase! I love the Mach 1's and I think probably the best priced mustang for the performance that you get with it.

I think what he meant was it didnt take him long to buy a cobra intake for his 95 (just a guess that was a confusing post) and was just saying how little time it took him to take the plunge and start dumping money into his mustang..

and congrats on the purchase, hope you two have many amazing miles together

thanks for all the replys, cant get enough of this car, ive never owned a car like this, ive always had big bodys with auto trans, heads/cam. The mach is not quite as fast as my impala in a str8 line, but it is far better in every other aspect of performance. My impala was fully modded so I have to keep reminding my self that the mach is still stock and with minimal mods it will be faster....

one thing I dont get is the mach is turning low 13 sec 1/4 miles with just over 300hp, while the new 400+hp 5.0 mustang is only a few tenth's faster and the mach seems to be just as fast as the camaro ss with 400+hp. We have a new 5.0 mustang at my jobs drags racing program and with intake/ exhaust it is running 12.7-12.8 on street tires. Yet I read on mm&ff they took a stock mach and ran a 13.1!!Crazy!

Congrats and welcome to the family. Like yourself, I was in awe of our cars' 1/4 mi. performance. Actually didn't know it until I owned mine and went a 13.3 my 1st visit to the track. HP is a major statistic to consider (your Mach makes about 325, yes they were underrated), but our cars are geared very well for the 1/4 and like all stangs they aren't boats like GM cars. MM&FF did go a 13.1x, the fastest I've seen bone stock in optimal conditions is a 13.06, but anything under a 13.5 is very commendable. Have fun with her. We're here for eachother for Q & A to help save $ and aggravation so don't hesitate to ask questions if ya got em.
