The stock clutches on these cars are already a little heavy on effort required, unlike the '05+ S197 platform cars that use hydraulic assist (as do most other modern cars since about 1985) when you push the pedal on these cars you are directly fighting with the pressure plate. Adding any sort of "performance" oriented clutch setup generally results in increased effort.

Unless it seems like it's binding - hitting a hard spot somewhere midway thru pedal travel or there are any sort of engagement/disengagement issues, heavy pedal effort (as compared to most other cars) is pretty normal.

I decided to try one more of these Mach1;s....this time one owner & 13,500 miles on it.....should be like new....I have heard different opinions but my first 2003 Mach 5 years ago had 68,000 on it when I bought it & the clutch seemed way too hard.....possibly changed , worn out , cable issue...who knows...but I will try this one next week when it is delivered & hopefully will be impressed....I dont mind driving a stick as long as its not a work - out....my 1986 - GT was fine.....if this Mach is also too hard I will sell it & stick with my 2007 Honda Accord

The grabbing right off the floor thing is usually a cable issue. Mine was doing that a few weeks ago, swapped it out, all good. All new edge mustangs have heavy pedaled clutches. Op, glad to hear your new Mach is tip top!

Mine begins to engage literally right off the floor but it's due to using the MM clutch pedal height adjuster. It repositions the pedal so it's level with throttle and brake, basically takes that section of play out of the pedal and cable. You get used to it after a few minutes, lol.
