The Jeep Thread
I've noticed that lots of guys who drive Mustangs also drive or have driven Jeeps. So I thought I would start up a thread here. I have come to trust the input of lots of members on this forum. Plus, the wrangler and Jeep forums have so many members that they can be almost overwhelming.
So here's the 97 Wrangler Sport that I picked up a few weeks ago. It's my third jeep.

I'll try to get the ball rolling with a question.
Right now I have 33X12.50-15s on alloy wheels. The Jeep picks up pretty well, but certainly doesn't overwhelm you with speed or power (yeah I know, it's a Jeep). On the interstate, when the speed limit is 75, I'm almost a road hazard in any wind or up a decent hill. Sometimes I'm all the way down to 60-65 mph.
Thinking about going down to a 31X10.50-15 or something similar. Would have to change wheels to fit that narrow of a tire. Any opinions or experience on what that will do for me?
It takes less power to turn a smaller tire, plus maybe an advantage in gearing. I will be going to a 10.50 or similar eventually because 12.50s are worthless on a muddy road. But I lan on wearing these out first.

Any idea what gears your Jeep has in it? regearing might be a possibilty?
Mine has 3.73's and I can run 70-80mph no problem. Unless there's a head wind but you're driving a brick so it's not going to take a headwind very well. I just downshift into 4th for hills and it maintains speed ok.
