Default Looking for a painter in SE Michigan

I live in Livonia & my mustang is currently in the body shop getting some body work done to it then it's gonna get sprayed. But my problem is the guy who is painting it says he can't spray it the color I want (house of Kolor - brandywine). He says that it's really hard to paint for my car because of all of body pieces. He said those kind of colors are more for hot rod type cars. Even though I've seen those type of colors on mustangs before. Then he told my uncle even black would be hard to paint for the same reasons. And this guy has been painting cars for over 30yrs! So I was wondering if anyone out there knows someone who is compatant enough to do this type of piant job. They have to be in MI because I support local businesses.

Even though the painter has 30 years, he may have only used a certain brand of paint. Not all paints spray the same, as he has said. Consider yourself lucky that he told you that he can't do it. Instead of just doing it and being unhappy with the results.

Try calling House of Kolor, and ask them if there is a local supplier that they sell to and go from there.

Where is your car at for service? I may know someone close to you...

Sorry OP, just want to ask a question semi related.

I have an '03 that I need to get the front license plate bracket removed. The bumper will need to have the holes filled and repainted. While its there, I'm thinking about having the hood redone since it has several stone chips.

How does black fare with color matching? Wasn't sure if it's generally an easy color to match.

Thanks!

Hey, how'd the paint go? Who did you end up going with, and were you happy?

I'm gonna stick with the guy I found. The car should be primed this week & then next week or the week after should be ready to shoot some color.

Keep us posted of the progress. And when it's all said and done, if you'd recommend the shop, can you pass along the name? I might have some paintwork needs soon. Thanks!

If you want top-notch quality go to Reiter's Metalcraft. My father's 65 is there now and these guys are bar none.
