Default Lapeer Dragway

A bunch of us were looking to try Lapeer Dragway (mainly for it's location) for a test-n-tune day, until i read their rules and regulations.

Are these guy's serious??? I've never seen so many regulations for just basic street cars even.

If you run a 12.99 or faster you have to have a "blow proof steel scatter shield." What the hell is that? lol.

13.99 or faster you have to have a driveshaft loop. (so basically a stock Mustang needs one... WTF!!!).

This one is my favorite! "ANY CAR running nitrous driver must wear a fire retardant jacket."
So my bolt on Mustang w/100 shot requires a fire proof jacket? Come on... lol.

Is it just me or is this a bit overboard? I've only been to Milan and Ubly a few times, and they don't have rules like this.

Do any of you go to Lapeer? Do they enforce all of this?

Any feedback or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

They do not enforce those rules. Just have them to cover their azz. You crash and burn its your problem.

They only enforce the one about having a 4 point cage in a convertable if you run faster than 13.49............lol

I think these tracks are getting alot of slack since that Scott Kalita crash. It seems that more and more things keep popping up about these rules lately.

I think they could enforce them if it was real busy out there and they wanted to thin out the crowd. Just my 2 cents, look up the 2009 NHRA rule book and that pertains to all the NHRA tracks.

If they enforced all those rules, none of us could run! Tech inspection is signing the clipboard when you pay, after that find a piece of mud to park on...

That's good to know. Thanks for the info guys!

BTW is Lapeer a good track to run on? Does it hook well and give accurate times?

definately not the best track to expect your best times, but if you want to get more than 2 or 3 runs in then Lapeer is your place. I wish I knew of a perfect day to go to Milan and actually get some runs in with out there being 1000 other cars to contend with.
