Step by Step guide to installing a Mark VIII motor in a 96+ GT.

the 97-98 MK VIII heads are the same castings as 96-98 cobras. the MK VIII from 93-96....i dunno. 93-96s also have a different intake manifold than the 97-98s, which i have heard flows more (not as much as 96-98 cobras). the 93-96s did not have beehive valve springs although the heads themselves may have been the same, not sure on that.

Not yet, but it gets plenty of exposure. Thanks for the compliment.
Nope, not really. The 93-96 heads have shrouded valves, the 97-98 and the Cobra heads don't. The intake cam is slightly different on the Mark VIII as well. Lemme see if I can find the comparison pics of the shrouded and unshrouded valves.

CRAP! Sorry that I missed your post man, I normally don't. If you still need them, I will get them ASAP.
I helped another guy out with a swap and he gave me the results of a dyno pull.
All motor, GT tune, nothing but a bassani ORX and flowmaster catback.
276HP@3800RPM
288ftlbs of torque@3500RPM.
I was shocked to say the least. Not only at the RPM's, but the power to the wheels.

On mine no, but I helped a guy do this same swap. The only difference between him and me is that he has an ORX and flowmasters. He made 276/288 to the wheels. He ran a 15.1, but he was on 2.73 gears, which are crap for a 4V.

Yep. It was a completely stock 97 Mark VIII engine with an EGR delete. Stock GT tune, Bassani ORX, and flowmaster super 44's. I ran a 2010 Camaro SS automatic on an empty highway and BARELY lost. I mean, my fender was at his door and that was with non 4V friendly 3.27 gears.
