So what is the Big Deal find the harness and go from there it was done can be done and I dont think for one second Saleen made the harness ( I could be wrong)maybe used one from a 94/95 and moved around some wires and added to make it work with the 99 gauge cluster and OBD ecm.
What is the big difference in the 351 vs the 302 tell me other then size they are both push rod engines. 4.00 bores one has 1/2 more stroke they can run the same heads. 351 is a taller deck has bigger main bearing journals as well as bigger rod journals. the 351 has a longer rod and a taller piston. the 351 takes a different intake and oil pan as well as a distributor. any of the blocks can take a roller cam with the right lifters so I dont see it as being SPECIAL in any way it was just a old 351 engine then and now..it really has not change much since 1969.

And a v6 is deffinite hell no sound like crap and there's no way it would have more power then my 302 setup the way it is . And I hate the way the 4.6 mod motors sound never likes them unless it has a loud roots blower on it to drown out the sound of the exhaust lol but that's a ton of money to do that swap so this is where I'm at . Never asked if it would b leg all or if it was a good idea just wanted some advice/help on finishing the car

Ok, you need to google it there are lots of people that are doing it some use the v6 harness and splice the extra injectors into it like Saleen did and others are using a stock 4.6 harness and a cam position sensor from a 3.8 mustang or are running a A/M sensor set up and then running COP distributorless ignition they are also running the 4.6 ECM that is much smarter then the 94/95 stuff and it has the OBD test port there for you. YES the firing order on a 4.6 is the same as the 351/302 engines.
It is something that is gone to take time and you are gone to have to research it for yourself. Like I said there is lots of info out there I know cuz I was thinking about one in my 99 Cobra ( grabs chest for all those keep it original people out there). But the last thing I need is another project so I will just drive it for now LOL. just google "what harness did Saleen use in the 351 powered 99 mustangs " stuff will come up for it. From What I seen I would run the 4.6 ECM and harness over the other set up in the end it looks like less work.
If you want budget and easier then the carb would be the best route by far.

Doing fuel injection is only one aspect to keeping it street legal. The fact that it's an older motor into a newer car already negates the legality of it.

I'm still confused as to why all this work for a motor that makes about the same power as the V6 that was in there.

The V6 is a pushrod... and for the money, it's easier to get power out of it rather than all this hassle of an old 5.0L.

What kind of power are you going to make with the swap?
