Default new to 3V swap

Hi I havnt posted here much but do alot of reading. After 6 hard years of s/c my 04i GT finally gave out, and I mean a hole in the block ha. Dad has talked me into the 3V swap and we all have our reason why but I have a few questions I couldnt find an answer too. 1) Everyone says the Logan kit is $400 but it is now 1400! What does they extra 1000 get ya? 2) People have done the swap, cheaply, wwas you able to keep all accessories....like a/c? 3) Do I really have to get a new hood!? Geez haha thanks..%95 sure bout this swap And just need alittle help.

How much did you pay for the engine?

And I'm pretty sure most people were able to get away with a 2.5" cowl I think.

Its more cost/power efficent to just go with a 4v swap.

It my have been cheaper to find a 8yr or older engine but the power to cost ratio is better with the 3V, IMO. Head and cams alone justify that. And even stock vs stock the 3V lose 5hp to the 4v but gains 15ftlbs. So Id rather have a 3v for the sake of saying its a 3v instead of a cobra coming beside me and having the same engine in an older car.

Not bashing you but you are grossly misinformed on the characteristics and build of a 4V vs. a 3V.. A 4V is a better option.. It's a stronger block with more potential for future upgrades. Now for the price you paid and if you plan on keeping it stock then you went the right route..

I thought the blocks are the same...either way my mistake. Its going to be an n/a car so the block should be fine.

If you get a Teksid 4V block, those are incredibly strong.. A 6 bolt main and awesome webbing design.. They are not the same as the 3V, the only similarity is that they are both aluminum. A WAP block out of a 03-04 Termi is also strong but it's the internals in those that make it great (which you can upgrade to a forged rotating assembly in your 3V).

Now like you said though, your plans are N/A so in reality you will never be reaching the power and torque levels to worry about splitting your 3V block. To really care about the strength differences you would be looking at 800+ power levels.
