Default SN95 Mustang Engine Swap

I'm looking at getting a '95 SN95 Mustang, but the problem is that there are metal shavings in the oil. So I think I could put my 3.8V6 from my '93 Cougar in to it and be done for awhile, but the cougar has a distributor start engine, and the mustang has a EDIS-6 distributorless start engine. Will they be a compatible swap, or will I have to switch the EDIS-6 to the cougar engine before I put it into the mustang?

Better advice is find a junkyard 3.8L out of a Mustang and spend the $300-500 on it.
