Coyote 5.0 swap into 2005 V6

Ok I know its been asked 1000 times but I just picked up a great deal on an 05 V6 mustang. Its in great shape , its an auto but Im planning on swapping in a coyote I picked up with 5spd tranny that I had originally planned to fit into a cobra kit car I was building. I ended up selling the kit car as a roller and snagged this stang for $6000

So I plan on using the ford racing Control pack that comes with motor harness pcm , intake tube , air cleaner etc. I was hoping for some input from some guys who had dug into a s197 , I have heard that the engine cross-members are the same between V6 and GT, all Id need is coyote motor mounts?

Also I know the tach and speedo wont work with the tranny setup and new control pack , so I was planning on swapping out the cluster for a couple 5 inch speedo and tach and wiring them in , as well as misc other gauges Id creativily install. I have to figure out AC , Im assuming I could use a compressor from a coyote and get some lines made?

Also as far as fuel system goes , does the V6 run the same fuel pump as a GT? Im worried about the LPH or GPH if theres a difference. I need to research the Pressures and flow . Usually fuel injection mostly requires the same or similar PSI across the board. depending on app I assume. Any input is welcome.

Might want to look at springs and sway bars, shocks and struts. I would also look at a upgraded drive shaft not sure if that stock one would hold up.

Lots of things to iron out with the engine accessories, besides the electronic hook ups etc...
Also, I don't think that the 7.5 rear will last after the swap and it's an open diff. so it has to go for that reason alone anyways.
The sixxer fuel pump won't work either so a coyote or aftermarket one is needed.

Good luck, I am doing the same when my 4.6L gets tired.

Experimenters like you are real heros, if you took on a kit car, I am sure you can do this.

I have heard of a power steering pump issue due to the coyote cars going electric, I thought I saw a bracket available, or I have pondered a flaming river manual steering unit.

Been working on it a little , 2 inch lowering kit , tinted the windows, gt front and rear bumpers , grille etc. Boss stripes , black gas door , sequential tailight kit , painted mirror covers, color matched 5.0 emblems. Stuff has been streaming in for the swap. only a few peices left to get before I crack her open.

Are you planning to do a guide? I'm starting to save for this swap, mainly because so few people have it. Mine is also an auto.

Can't wait to see the final project. Keep us updated!

Yessir , Im going to lay it out for anyone else looking to do the swap. I should be pulling the moor in a couple weeks. Just waiting on a few parts to arrive.

Are you building the motor yourself?

I know someone on another forums tried this swap out and everything worked out except for his gauges. Have you figured out a work around? That was a big thing that was holding me back.

Buy a pillar kit and wire it in, the only gauges you need is RPM and speed everything else is worthless. :D

The gauges are not a problem at all . Manuel over on s197forum did the swap into a 07 GT , the Ford racing control pack harness comes with an epas connector (AIM connector with 4 wires) that you wire into the wires at your OBD port that links the harness with your can network and you have gauges that work. He did it . Even the colors are the same on your factory harness.

This is the pinout diagram for the Ford Racing control pack harness ,The connector that says In-line to EPas (aim for race car) if you check your OBDII port it has those colors , splice them in and itll comunicate with your CAN network. The V6 tach is the same as the GT and will work for the Coyote. I'll let u know when I get to the wiring if it works for me.

Saving that picture for future reference! Thanks Phansm! Now I have to start saving. Think i'm going to go and buy a block and just build from there.

Good luck with the build!

How I got my Coyote , my buddy at ford called me and asked if I was interested In a' new 5.0. So I asked the details. A new 5.0 with 3000 miles on it came in with a slight rattle noise at 3500 rpm. The tech pulled the oilpan and discovered the number 7 rod bearing had a score mark in it , no other damage just number 7. They put a new motor on it. So I bought the motor for the core charge for $1000. I picked up a set of new boss 302R piston and rod kit and a boss 302 crank so now when it goes back together I'll have a completely forged internals , as it sits I have about $3500 n the motor with all accessories, intake etc.
