Default Considering coyote swap into 2004 GT

My first 4 cars were mustangs. 83 5.0 convertible, 94 v6 convertible, 96 gt convertible and an 82 5.0. I've missed having a muscle car, been soooo long. Finally back to a place where I can get one again so I've been looking around. I have been seeing a lot of stuff on coyote swaps into new edge Mustangs and I have a chance to get a 2004 GT for $5-7,000.

Most of the posts I've seen on coyote swaps into new edge cars says they're easy, though I have never done an engine swap personally so I'm wondering if this is a project an amateur can take on reasonably. I am an aerospace structures mechanic so I have some mechanical sense and I'm decent at researching a project before I start it. So I'll work on getting everything in order before turning the first wrench...but I'm curious what some of you experienced car guys think about doing a swap without prior experience.

Seems like a lot of work, just did a quick Google and saw latemodelrestoration's page about it.

How about a supercharger?

For the costs, depends on the charger kit, but most seem to only give a 100hp gain for $3-4,000. Then the engine seems limited beyond that without further build up.

Then there is the 5.0 badge. 435hp NA selling the old engine and transmission should reduce some of the costs. I've seen some doing the coyote engines out of trucks for much less cost. $2-3,000 for the engine. Though they need some Mods to bring It to the mustang specs. I also like the idea of resto mods to bring the car more up to date while taking advantage of the older body style. 2001-2004 has a nice shape when they're clean.
Just basic estimates from what I've found I should be able to do the project for around $17,000 including purchase of the car. I've seen some 2015/2016 it's for $25-30,000 and I love the cars, but cant justify spending that right now.

The 2004 is going to cost around $5-7,000 for now. Maybe I'll keep it original and just clean it up then buy a 2016+ in a few years after my finances are more in order for a purchase like that. Though at the same time the coyote swap and custom work on the 2004 would give a more original car.

Just in the recon and planning stage right now so not locked down on anything yet.
