Default 1996 to 2000 3.8 engine swap

I have searched the forum and can't find an answer so here goes. My grandson has a 96 3.8 with auto trans. A friend?? sold it to him for 500 dollars, unfortunately the engine is shot. my nephew has a 2000 with a 3.8 manual trans which we can get for a good price. My questions are, will the 2000 engine bolt into his 96 bell housing, what all will we have to change, modify to make the conversion work? Can someone please give us a good set of instructions, plain English please, neither of us are hot mechanics like a lot of you guys seem to be, as to what we will have to do to make this work. He just got out of the Army, so money is tight, we aren't interested in a racing car, just reliable transportation. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

This isn't much help but alot of guys with in depth tech questions like these email these guys questions, I subscribe to them and they are a very reliable source for information and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Just select "tech questions" from the drop down list.
