cam shaft change vs engine swap

cam shaft change vs engine swap
My son wrecked his 2003 Mustang with major front end damage. We bought a 2002 Mustang with a bad cam shaft with the intention of putting the motor from the 03 in the 02. He now is trying to convince me the cam shaft would be easier to fix than swapping the motors. Since I have never fixed a cam shaft I wanted to ask for help. Would it be easier/better to fix the cam shaft or replace the motor with the one from the 2003.
The 2003 also has 100k fewer miles, which is another reason I am for swapping the motors.
Thanks

As Blue said with those engines, a swap is easier then a cam replacement.
And if he's still hell bent on the cam after the swap, he can refresh the 02 to make it tighter, and then put in new cams, while he already has it apart.
