78 Mustang II

RE: 78 Mustang II
body looks good, steering wheel looks surprizingly good. score yourself a center console, they really add to the interior. i think its mustangs unlimited that has molded carpet, comes out nice but mine was too wide and having the console let me cut some out of the center and trim things up a bit.
it'll be fun!!!!!

RE: 78 Mustang II
Have stripped it and here are the individual components. Cleaned them a bit but would like to paint carb before putting back together. Any recomendations for paint or a decent finish for it...

RE: 78 Mustang II
you dont really wanna paint the carb, the finish should improve a little after soaking in the chem-dip for awhile.
here is what you need:
http://www.berrymanproducts.com/Default.aspx?tabid=146
it will destroy anything plastic or rubber, but will work wonders on metal parts. BE CAREFULL with handling this stuff, it will eat the crap outta your skin. rinse everything real good with water when your done cleaning and then use a air compressor to blow thru all the holes and passageways.

-33'c you must be WAYYYYYY up in canada huh?
its been chilly here too, yesterday i wanted a long sleeve shirt and jeans instead of my t shirt and shorts
what does the local auto parts store recommend for carb soaking? also i'd just pick up a cheesy chrome aircleaner and slap it on there if your missing pieces to yours.
i'll go mail ya a gallon for some cash shhh...........

Hey ..might have taken you up on the chem-dip but managed to find some in Winnipeg. things going slow here as it's still frigin cold and I am desperate to get in the garage. Yeh Iam pretty far up there the paved raod stops on 30 miles north of me ...then tundra and igloos haha. Will have to take something else of the engine to work on in the house ... any thoughts on what I couldrip QUICKLY so I dont freeze my butt. T-shirt and shorts ...god I forgot what it feels like still have to wait another 2 -3 months. Looking around finding it hard to locate parts for the 78 2.8 v6

The more I picture it in my head, the more I think having a coat of Ford blue on the carb would look far better than the oxidized finish mine has now...and that's after I cleaned mine up a lot...
And don't worry too much about the surface rust on the exhaust manifolds. They all end up that way, but unlike headers, they are pretty thick cast and won't suffer from it.
