Default Exhaust help best headers?

Hey,
I need some help with my exhaust. I'm not real familar w/ exhaust, and different set ups etc. right now my problem is. my car is almost road worthy, but it has no cats. I live in DE and the chances of getting through inspection w/ no cats is slim to none. so I was wondering whether I could add cats myself, and how much work that would be. Also, any general tips or maybe a sit w/ some help on actually workin on the exhaust would be great.

Also, I was wondering what are the best headers for a 302? And how much power can I get by adding them. I've got a 87 mustang block w/ a performer intake and holley 600/650...not sure which. stock H.O. cam, and soon to be performer heads as well. dual exhaust going back for the time being.

Default RE: Exhaust help best headers?

i have hedman headers and i had to do a little trimming under the car and i had to chop the flange off the collectors and weld the pipes to get them in there with the best fit. the front primary on the passenger side goes straight down and makes a 90 deg. turn, then goes under the crossmember and back into the collector. kind of a crappy design.

the hookers, they are more $$$ but do not route under the car like the hedmans do - i cannot speak about how well they actually fit though.

yes, you can buy aftermarket cats (i'd check ebay) the main thing is that your car isnt running all rich and crappy.
