Default V8 Motor mounts?

Can some one tell me how to tell the difference between the 4 cyl and the 8 cyl mounts. I was told I needed the V8 ones. When I removed mine, they look similar except the rubber. One is a solid piece and the other has two put together. Thanks for any help.

if you have a V8 car you WILL need V8 mounts, and if i remember correctly the frame mounts are different on at least one side too. also if i remember correctly, 1 side is easily available from most auto parts stores, while the other side is nearly impossible to find new.

i'd be looking on ebay for a frame/motor mount set. even used if the rubber is compressed you can use them as long as the rubber isnt rotted out. i had a set in mine where we drilled the rivots out and replaced them with large bolts and locknuts to take the slop out of the mounts. it makes the motor sit a hair lower in the car, but i had no problems with interference anywhere.

since then i have scored a N.O.S. set that happened to be hiding on a parts shelf @ a random ford dealer - but good luck with that.
