Default 78 Mustang II Trying to remove Dashboard. Can't get headlight **** off

I have a 78 Mustang II with a V8. All my dashboard lights are burned out and am trying to get the dashboard off. However we cannot seem to get the headlight **** off in order to get the dashboard off. We have a Haynes book on it and it says there is a switch we are supposed push but we cannot find the switch and the drawing doesn't look like what we have.

Anybody have any clues on how to release the ****?

Thanks,
Stoney

yeah, cram your hand up the side of the dash closest to the drivers side door through the gap that's just a little bit too small to fit your hand until you force it up to about where the switch is, feel around for a small button on the side of the switch and push it in about halfway while pulling the switch out. Then hope you can get your hand back out again

You're going to have to push hard also. That damn "button" is a true test of patience! Good luck!

The easiest way is to remove the heater control assy. Remove the 3 screws holding the controls, 2 on top and one on the bottom. Push the control assy back and it'll drop down. You can know reach in below the headlight switch and feel the release button on the left hand side of the switch (closest to the door pillar. Push in the button and hold while pulling the **** assy out.
