Default 1974 ghia?

thinking of buying a 1974 ghia. has v6, auto with air and power streering. has 52k on it. interior is not bad. no rips in the seats. needs pass. quarter and a little work in the fire wall, and bottom of fenders. car has been in his family since new. he had it restored ten years ago but let it sit after the car was done. he told me to make him an offer was thinking about 500.00. i will post pics

If it has a vinyl top, RUN!

In your second pic, where that big patch of rust starts under the trim, if there isn't a vinyl top, then it probably starts under that trim and that's the extent of the problem, no big deal. If it has a vinyl top, it's probably covering something like this:

That's not surface rust, it's eaten into the metal and pitted deeply. That's on my '76 and on the list of things that need fixing.

Yep, that vinyl top probably trapped a lot of rust...

Just remember too that the 2.8L Cologne V-6 has a fiber cam gear that will become brittle over time, if this car has only 52K on it, it probably has the original fiber timing gear on it. When it breaks, I've had two break on me back in the 80's with two different Ford Capris I owned with that same engine, the first time bent a few valves, the second time nothing was hurt. So be careful & ask for any paper work that would support if the timing gear has been changed out. Good luck

Just curious but will you restore it? Daily Driver? Not many of those still left around. Rust doesn’t look to bad and price is fair.
