1978 5.0 oil pan

Hey I've got a 1978 mustang cobra with a 5.0 I've rebuilt everything. Only problem is when I got it the oil pan was wrecked. I've been searching every where to find an oil pan that fits. Regular 5.0 pans hit the steer rack and none of the speed shops in my area are able to help me. Is there anyone out there who can tell me where I can find a pan?? Please help!!!! want to have the car out for the spring!!

Try an oil pan from an earlier classic Mustang. It has the sump in the front and may clear all your stuff. You will need to relocate the dip stick for the front sump. Almost all the front covers were cast with a boss for the front dip stick, it just needs to be drilled out with the proper size drill and then the tube pushed in. This is a common replacement on early Mustangs when installing an 80's 5.0 engine.
