Dave, thanks for the update, and keep us updated as the build comes along. Sometimes these things take much more time (and life happens) than we anticipate. Does Shelby still plan on driving the car once it's finished?

So since we've been back and forth in this thread the two of us, and it's been 7 years, here is an update on the deuce Cole and I built.

This is what the car ultimately ended up looking like, basically he just changed the wheels to a 15" wheel and 205/55-15 tire (very close to original diameter).

We ended up changing out the gauges for more modern ones mainly because the original tach bounced too much and was inaccurate with the electronic ignition, even with adapters. I kept the original gauge cluster from the car, and bought another off of ebay to modify for the new....came out looking pretty good. And he has the originals just in case.

He ended up coming home from college during the pandemic and deciding that he didn't necessarily want to be in college until later, so he joined the USAF in 2020, he is currently a crew chief on AC-130 and MC-130 planes and has been in about 3.5 years.

Also during the pandemic we moved from Elkhart to northern AZ (actually while Cole was in Basic and early tech school, he had no idea we had moved). So I toted the deuce out on the back of my then car, the Flex.

So after Cole finished tech school he was assigned to the 27th SpecOps wing out at Cannon AFB, NM. All of this to say, he still has the deuce and drives it daily during the summer. He has a little Kia he drives when he isn't driving the MII, but 7 years after hitting the road, it is still being driven by him and he has ZERO plans on giving it up. Here is it in the Fall of 2021, when he was getting it ready to move from Prescott to Clovis, 10 hours away. (He towed it, wasn't going to drive a 302 with 3-spd....even though it is 3.00:1....10 hours on the highway....lol)

As far as AC goes, what I ended up doing with Cole's was had ProAir in Elkhart (I think they are closed down now) build a custom AC line system to connect an aftermarket condensor to the '93 compressor to the '76 evap and controls (if you look at the gauge photo, next the the climate controls you'll see a switch, that is how he engages and disengages the AC compressor....even though it is an original AC car, that was the most cost effective way). Actually works great.

Now that you've got the MII back on the lift, keep the updates coming!
.

Had some time this week-

I got the hatch stripped out- no real surprises here. Floor will get removed as I'm swapping to a 69 mustang EFI tank. All the old carpet and sound mat came out really easy.

Got the front stripped as well. I knew there were some weak spots on the floor. Didn't think the drivers floor was this bad... it is. Gotta fix it ,and enough of it is bad that I don't want to piece it. So got the front and rear pan ordered...

Passenger side will only need the front pan. - that's a win? right? maybe? - Then I noticed someone at some point jacked the car from the back of the passenger side unibody rail- see the floorboard pushed up? So, I will have to figure out how to straighten that- If it was a regular roof I could manage with a long 6x6 and and a bottle jack. But can't do that with the t-tops. I'll figure it out somehow.

Hopefully get the dash out still before the weekend is over... but I'm pretty busy. If not, next car day is Sunday afternoon.

Quick update- sorry no pics was making more progress but the son's ford edge munched the steering rack. so moved the MII to work on it. You have to drop the subframe Boo, hiss :-( and then threw my back out- So, no car time for a couple weeks, then had to take care of business out of town. Hoping to be back on the MII for the long weekend.

Post Sequential Taillights

Hi, I posted a sequential taillight how-to several years ago on the old MustangII.Net and it was also on the MustanII Tech website. You may look and see if the tech site is still up. It listed all the parts needed to do the conversion as well as the steps. If the site's gone I believe I still have the instructions on my computer somewhere...

thanks!! I knew I remembered your username from somewhere... I think I copied a pdf of that off the old MII site. It will be a bit different because I'm rewiring it, so it may be easier as I wont need the isolators.
