Wow GTs have really lost their value

RE: Wow GTs have really lost their value
Sell it yourself or keep it. Trade ins are only worth it if your car is a guarenteed sell. My 02 GT brought $16k trade in in 2006 because the dealer owned it for exactly 1 minute before it sold. The guy that bought it was a collecter/dealer and he absolutly wanted it. You've got to understand our economy aint what it was.. These cars drink gas and alot of people are in too much debt to buy coffee let alone a car. Why do you think our government chose to give us some of our money back this spring/summer? We are in a recession.....Everything has lost its value, not just cars..

I'm trying to trade in my car for a manual, but I'm not getting more than $15,000 as a trade in value for my car! I got ita year ago for $21k. Second owner.

I was going to get an 05 gt when they first came out but decided to wait. Buying a brand enw SS, and selling it a couple of years later losing SO much I decided with the gt to wait. So yeah I bought it for 16000 and the car was immaculate with leather, five speed shaker ect. It is horrible how cars, all of them, lose their value the way they do.

I don't buy my cars because I wanna invest...
I wouldn't care if our cars were worth only $2000 right now.
Mine ain't for sale any time soon.
I haven't seen many GTs for sale below $18Khere in FL.

I don't know who paid 30k or more for the gt even in 05. I bought mine in nov 04 for 25k thinking about it and reading the thread I am guessing in 3 1/2 years its still worth near 20k. Thats just over 1300 a year loss that barely covers the cost of insurance for the car a year. Not bad. Like said before the plant still has a hard time keeping up with demand on a performance vehicle its pretty impressive. I don't think ford ever imagined the success they would have with this design.

People paid over sticker for 05 & 06 GTs? I got mine brand new with every option except heated seats, for 3k BELOW invoice..
The day I picked it up I came home and looked it up on KBB.com and private sale it was already worth $1k MORE than I owed on it..
Now KBB says private party is worth $26,700.. Too bad if I sold it for that I'd be out $15k in mods.. [:@]
I guess she's a keeper..

the original poster is overlooking the impact that having too many miles on a car has on the resale price or KBB price. That car had almost 2 times as many miles as normal. High mileage will lower your resale value more than just about anything. As noted, torn carpet, broken tail lights, even a missing rear spoiler are easily repaired/ replaced and for much cheaper than most foriegn cars.
What pisses me off more than the possibility that when I want to trade up for a 2009 glassback Mustang I'll be lucky to get $1500 below low blue book trade-in price. All that while the greedy insurance company is still charging me the same premiums as they did when my GT was new and almost irreplaceable, with none available in this color on any dealer lots!
At least I know I'll be able to get a good price on any future V-8 Mustang when we have $4+ gasoline here!

Thats what you get when you buy a Ford or any other domestic made car. I bought my 05 GT last April with alittle over 20k miles on it for 21k. Now I see 05's and a few 06's going for under 20k with under 30k miles on them. The best deal I seen was an 06 with 15k miles on it going for 18.5k. Not too bad if you ask me, well if you're looking to buy it isnt bad, but if you're looking to trade in, well, you're sh*t out of luck.
