They are. The new Camaro is more advanced in every way from the outgoing GTO.....and that car MSRP'd for 31-32K. Just look at the features that come standard on this car.......advanced IRS setup, super rigid chassis, performance tires, LS3/L99 motor, Brembo brakes. You could add those into a mid 20's car and STILL end up paying over 33K. I think GM is doing this for the first year run........think introductory pricing. They are willing to take a hit to get this car's sales jumpstarted. I won't be surprised if the price jumps up a few grand in the second and even third production years. I stand firm on my previous estimates: this is a 32K+ car. GM is just taking one in the pooper to try and impress potential buyers. It'll probably work, assuming enough dealerships honor MSRP pricing. Everyone else will be getting the zero-lube buttjob at their local lots.

Having said that, I think this car would still be worth every penny if it did start at 33-35K. Alot of bang for that buck.

You are getting too worried, Ford will dominate it's part of the market like it always does. As it was said before, the camaro has always been a better performing car, yet the mustang vastly outsold it. Also, I would never get a challenger because they are so heavy that they don't even perform that well. Now if Ford could lighten the current mustang to 3000 pounds, we wouldn't need 400hp. Power to weight > peak power.

3,000 pounds would be less than a 2 seater fiber glass Corvette. That's not going to happen. It's already lighter than the Camaro and Challenger. All they need to do is up the power to 375 and they'll have the power to weight ratio. Frankly, I'm hoping for 350 hp, but it'll probably be less. Hope I'm wrong.

I'm aware of how light 3000 pounds would be. It will never happen, but it most definitely can be done.

Being realistic the Camaro will not sell for under MSRP. Second Ford has already said they will be changing the current motor to a 5.0L 3v motor. That can easily get them to 350hp. GM has already said the Camaro is going to be 4200-4300lbs. Thats a huge difference from what the mustang weighs. Either way the mustang will always out sell the Camaro due to its iconic image. It just has a better following. I will probably end up getting a Camaro once the prices stabilize unless Ford can deliver something really impressive with their 50 year anniversary car.

I can't imagine Ford not going all out for their 50th anniversary edition......

Got to get a three car garage before then.
