If they don't give us the Ecoboost OR the Coyote.....ima be pissed. Not to be vindictive, but if they plan to use the 4.0 and 4.6 for the next 4 or 5 years with no discernable improvement in power or fuel economy....I hope they lose this market segment to the Camaro. They'll deserve it.
link dont work anymore but i think i get the jest of it.

I really dont see how you put the ecoboost in the taurus but not the mustang.....

i really dont think ford is that dumb.......but......we'll see.

I do think it may happen in a few yrs for the V6 version mustang and the GT will stay with a V8 (hopefully the 5.0L with S/C options-just like they will offer in 2010)

Sorry about the link, here's the story it links to:

"We have to admit, when we first heard the rumors that Ford was going to produce a Mustang powered by the twin turbo EcoBoost V6 engine we were a bit skeptical. It just didn't seem to make sense. Why would Ford go to the trouble and expense of manufacturing yet another engine for the Mustang, especially one at the same price point as the current 4.6L V8? Well according to StangTV our gut feelings may have been right.

A recent posting by StangTV quotes a source at Ford Motor Company saying the entire thing is a "total rumor". According to the source, Jesse Kershaw of Ford Racing Performance Parts, Ford has no cycle plan for the EcoBoost engine in the Mustang. "That doesn't mean there isn't a prototype running around but there's nothing in the plan to actually do that” says Kershaw.

Now lets face it, this wouldn't be the first time a bunch of smoke and mirrors were used to throw the media off the scent trail of a bold new product. It could very well be that Ford is just trying to keep this one under wraps until the time is right. On the other hand this wouldn't be the first time Ford (or any auto manufacturer for that matter) decided against a new powerplant. In early 2005 Ford shelved it's plans to produce a 6.2L V8, dubbed the Hurricane, which was slated for the F-Series truck line but was rumored to be a Hemi killer for the Mustang. Although there is word that the Hurricane may be back under a new name the point is that engines get killed on a daily basis in the auto manufacturing world, this wouldn't be anything new.

So which is it? Is the EcoBoost Mustang dead or not? I guess only time will tell. "

I'm with you Thisblood, if Ford doesn't use the Coyote or the EcoBoost V6, I'm looking elsewhere for a future car.

I think its smoke and mirrors like the guy eluded to.

However i will say this.......if they dont get a new engine put in the stang in the next 5 yeras to match what camaro and challenger are doing.......they are stupid.......same price point but 100 less hp on both fronts.......stupid......

My loyalty to the mustang would be seriously questioned and perhaps die if they dont do something about this 215hp and 315hp crap they have going on.

maybe ill write a letter to Ford

Do it man.

Hell, Ford is the only American car company I trust. If they back out on a better engine for our pony's, I'm looking overseas for my next vehicle. Maybe they'll keep the 4.6L and just slap KB or Whipple blowers on the GT's I'd approve of that.

Yup, only time will tell. Hopefully when the 2011 is at the dealership, they have some fire sales to get rid of the 2010's. Maybe get a 2010 GT for 20k new...hmm.. Can swing that.

I really believe that Ford should have made the new mustang be the 2009 and they should have had a 2008 1/2 like the old days.

Hell the damn thing comes out this month dosent it?
